An academy trial has become team gossip

I would take the temperature out of it quickly. A trial should not turn every grassroots session into an audition. The player still needs somewhere they can just play football with teammates. I would ask adults not to discuss the trial around the group unless the family wants to. With the players, keep the message simple if it comes up: he has an opportunity, and today we are here to train or play as normal. I would also avoid giving him extra touches, special positions or constant feedback because somebody might be watching soon. That usually increases the pressure. The best preparation is normality: good football habits, enjoyment and a player who feels they can still make mistakes without the whole group reading meaning into them.
